Happy Halloween!! Your treat for today is this Vintage Haunted House Tutorial! This fun little house is so easy to decorate, and the techniques I share here can be used to make different houses for all kinds of holidays. DIY Christmas village, anyone? Here’s what you’ll need to get started!

Vintage Haunted House Tutorial
Supplies:
- Basic house. You can use a paper, paper mache, or wood house from a craft store.
- Black and orange paint.
- Washi Tape.
- Mod podge.
- Decorative papers.
- Adhesive roller.
- Foam brush.
- Paint brushes.
- Scissors.
- Craft knife.
- Sandpaper or old emery board.
Start by painting your house entirely with orange paint and let it dry. Then cover up all the orange with a layer of black paint and let that dry completely as well. Trim a piece of decorative paper to fit on each part of the roof, making the paper just a little smaller than the size of the roof section.

Paint a medium thick layer of mod podge on the roof, and smooth down the piece of paper. Do this for all sections of your roof, making sure to smooth out any bubbles. Wait 20 minutes for it to dry completely, and then coat the entire roof with a layer of mod podge on top of the paper and let it dry completely.
Next, take a piece of decorative paper that has images that fit with your theme, and cut them out. Make sure they are larger than the window openings.
Use your adhesive roller to place glue around the edges of each image, and place it up inside the house. Press it to the inside of the windows, and the adhesive around the edges will hold the image in place. Don’t forget to decorate the front door too!
Now take your washi tape and decorate under the roof edge of your house. Trim the tape where necessary, and fold it around the corners.

Don’t forget to add some cute washi to the bottom of the house too! I thought these spooky cats were perfect. Now take your sandpaper or old nail file and scratch up the black paint all over the house. This way you can see the orange through the black, and it makes the house look old and weathered.
