The days are starting to get a little longer and warmer, and we are seeing signs of Spring all around us. So, I thought it would be fun to make a beautiful Spring Butterfly Painting Craft. This project is simple to make and can be paired with a caterpillar craft project to learn about the life cycle of a butterfly. I love versatile projects that combine art and science! Let’s get started.

Spring Butterfly Painting Craft
- 1 piece of both blue and pink or yellow construction paper.
- Several colors of paint.
- Pipe cleaner.
Begin this project by folding the pink or yellow sheet of construction paper in half and cutting out a butterfly shape. We cut out a large letter B shape.
Now, unfold the B to reveal a butterfly shape.
Next, add drops of paint on the butterfly shape.
Then, fold the butterfly in half again and gently press it to make the paint mix together. Unfold the butterfly and allow the paint to dry. This is a good time to talk about the life cycle of a caterpillar and butterfly.
Once the paint has fully dried, bend a pipe cleaner to resemble butterfly antennae. Then, add a drizzle of glue to the bent part of the pipe cleaner and attach it to the blue construction paper.
Finally, add glue to the backside of the butterfly and place it on the blue construction paper over the antennae.
That’s it! I hope you enjoyed making your Spring Butterfly Painting Craft!
