2021 is the Year of the Ox, according to the Chinese lunar calendar. This year the Chinese New Year begins on Friday, February 12th and ends February 26th with the famous Lantern Festival. The celebration, festivals, colors and traditions are quite beautiful. Festivities may not be as “grand” or well attended this year, because of the pandemic. However, we can certainly make time to celebrate and learn more about this holiday. Whether at home with our families or in our classrooms, these printable Chinese New Year mazes are great conversation starters. And they provide engaging, confidence building entertainment, especially for our preschoolers and kindergarteners.
Each new year of the Chinese calendar is marked by the characteristics of one of the 12 zodiac animals. And this set of printable mazes includes all 12: the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig. Another fun activity for kids to explore is to find out their zodiac animal and read about the fortune the new year will bring to them. Do you know what your zodiac animal is? You can find your Chinese zodiac sign within our fabulous Chinese zodiac coloring pages. And there is a wealth of resources to be found HERE within our lesson plan, worksheets and activity ideas to learn more about the holiday.
