Paper Strip Fish Craft for Kids

It’s nearly summer time, so we are working on all of the sea life craft and projects. And, living in Florida, it’s easy to find fun inspiration everywhere! This paper strip fish craft project was inspired by a picture I saw in the Florida Keys years ago. It is so fun and colorful, and the kids love making it.

Fish Art Project Supplies:

  • Construction paper.
  • Scissors.
  • School glue.
  • Googly eye.
  • Ribbon.

Let’s get started on this fun Paper Strip Fish summer craft! It’s the prefect project for beach house crafting, rainy day fun, or even classroom art projects. And they can be made to match any color scheme. I love a versatile craft.

First, gather all of your supplies. We used two colors of construction paper and a scrap piece of scrapbook paper.

We sketched out a fish head and tail on one piece of construction paper and cut each one out. Then, we stacked the remaining pieces of paper and scraps together and cut out strips of paper. We cut our strips to about 1/4″ wide and a few inches long.

Once all the paper was cut for this cute little paper strip fish craft, we laid it out on the table. First the head, then some cut paper strips, then the tail.

We needed to trim some of the paper strips to follow the body shape of a fish. We added glue to the strips and head and tail once we were happy with placement. Then, we placed the ribbon on the glue. And, we looped the ribbon at the top of fish head.

Next, we let the glue dry. Once the glue dried, we flipped the fish over and added a fun googly eye to the fish head.
