Paper Countdown Chain Halloween Craft

Right now, so many people are struggling with keeping track of what day it is. I know my family rarely knows what day of the week it is, unless we have a special appointment. And, when my kids were younger, one of their favorite ways to keep track of special days was with a paper countdown chain. We used to make them for their birthdays, special trips, and winter holidays. But, I thought it would be fun to make one for Halloween.

Paper Countdown Chain Halloween Craft

Countdown Craft Supplies:

• Colored construction paper –  I used orange and green.
• Scissors.
• Stapler.
• Halloween stickers.

This project truly couldn’t be any easier to make, and it is a real sanity saver when the little ones are anxiously awaiting a big day!

Let’s get started making this fun countdown chain craft.

First, figure out how many pieces of the chain you will need. Each day is one chain link.

Then, cut one strip of paper for each day. Our chain links were 1.25×7″. But, you can absolutely make them whatever size you would like! There is no right or wrong way to do this.

Once you have enough strips of paper cut out, you can begin assembling your paper countdown chain.

Roll one strip of paper into a circle shape and secure it with a staple. I covered the staples with adorable little Halloween stickers. You could tape or glue the chain links too, but a stapler is quick and easy.

Next, slide a second strip of paper through the first link, and create a second chain link. Staple it closed, and repeat this step until you have made all of your chain links.
