Fine Motor Craft Fishing Game

When I was a teacher, I always felt like my little ones needed a little more play and a lot less structure to learn. I believe kids learn so much more through play than worksheets. And, I was so grateful to have a supportive boss. I always had a box of “rainy day” games for my kids that needed a little something extra. And, they all always loved the pipe cleaner Fine Motor Craft fishing activity.

Let’s get started on this cute little craft project! First, gather all of your supplies. This will make crafting a lot easier.

Begin by twisting pipe cleaners into fish shapes. You could also use craft foam and cut out fish.

Next, create a fishing pole with pipe cleaners. You could use a popsicle stick, small dowel rod, pencil, or chopstick to make a fishing pole too.

Then, fill a small bowl or bucket with water and the pipe cleaner fish. This was a very popular fine motor craft activity when I was teaching, so I used plastic shoe boxes, and stored the fish and fishing poles in the boxes. I placed the buckets on plastic lunch trays to help contain some of the mess. But, you could use a towel or plastic table cloth too.
