When my boys were younger they always wanted to be in the kitchen with me. We even had a play kitchen in our kitchen (and one in their bedroom) for them. They loved to help cook and bake, and so this easy gingerbread playdoh recipe was something we made a lot during the holidays.

Let’s get started on this gingerbread playdoh recipe! First, gather all of your supplies. This will make crafting a lot easier. When the boys were younger, I would pre-measure all of the ingredients. Then, as they got older, I would let them measure the ingredients on their own. Additionally, you can make colored playdoh with Kool-Aid mixes and omit the cinnamon and ginger.
First, measure out 2 cups of flour. Then, measure 1 cup of warm water. Finally, measure 2 TBS of ginger, 2 TBS of cinnamon, 2 TBS of oil, and 1 TBS of salt.
Then, pour each ingredient into a large bowl and mix it all together. You can use a spoon or your hands to mix it all. However, if the playdoh is too wet, add a little more flour. But, if it is too dry, add a little more water. However, if the gingerbread playdoh is too sticky, add a little more oil.
Now you can play with your holiday gingerbread playdoh! My boys loved using small rolling pins and cookie cutters when they played with their playdoh.
Finally, when your little chefs are done with their playdoh, store it in an airtight container.
This is a great class party activity for little ones too! Just make a larger batch, and then store it in zip top bags for each child to take home.
