Paper Apple Basket Craft for Kids

When I think of Fall, I think of apples. I have always wanted to go apple picking. But, since I live in Florida, I haven’t been able to enjoy that Fall activity. However, when I was a teacher, we would create woven paper apple basket craft projects every year. And, it was almost as much fun.

Paper Apple Basket Supplies:

• Brown construction paper.
• Red and or green construction paper.
• White construction paper.
• Scissors.
• School glue.

This fun craft is super easy and can be done by young crafters with very little supervision. But, you may need to help them with the cutting if they are very young. You can also use our apple template to make tracing and cutting easier 

Let’s get started on this fun little DIY Paper Apple Basket Craft! First, gather all of your supplies. This will make crafting a lot easier.  Since this craft is made with construction paper and school glue, it shouldn’t take long to gather all of your supplies.

Begin by cutting the brown construction paper into strips. You can do this step ahead of time with a paper cutter too. Next, cut out apple shapes from the red or green construction paper. Use a scrap of brown to make apple stems for your apples. 

Now, glue the short edges of the one strip of brown construction paper on to the white construction paper. Repeat this step three or four times horizontally. 

Then, weave the remaining strips of brown construction paper vertically through the horizontal strips. Secure the edges with glue.

Once you finish weaving your apple basket, you can glue the apples into the top of the basket! 

You can trim the woven basket into a rounded bushel basket shape after the glue is fully dry too.
