My cousin’s little girl is obsessed with dinosaurs. And, her obsession has inspired me to create fun dinosaur pre-historic projects. I love this awesome DIY Fossil Art Project too! Also, it is a great opportunity to teach little ones about fossils and how they are formed.

First, measure out the ingredients. You will need 1/2 Cup of flour, 1/2 Cup of water, 1/3 Cup of coffee grounds (if you don’t have coffee grounds, you can use dirt), and 1/4 Cup of salt.
Then, mix the ingredients together in a small cup. If it is too wet, add a little more flour. For example, my first mix was a little wet as you can see in the photos, so I added more four before I poured it into the plate.
And, then pour the mixture into a deep paper plate.
Then, add whatever you want to make a fossil of into the mixture. I used clippings from a fern plant in the yard.
Finally, allow the mixture to dry. You can put it in the oven on low for a few hours to fully dehydrate it or allow it to dry outside in the sun.
Then, remove the fossil from the plate. I am really excited for our fossil’s ferns to dry out and turn brown. Because, I think it will be a great addition to our covered garden space out front.
