Hi there! If you’re a crafter, you almost always have extra yarn and ribbon and different fibers left over from old projects. I don’t ever throw those away. I also keep twine and ribbon from packaging and gifts I receive to reuse. This Bohemian Teen Wall Hanging is a quick easy project using leftover and recycled fibers to make a beautiful wall decoration.
You can use a variety of colors, or stick with a single color palette like I did. I love adding pops of color and texture in an otherwise simple room. Here’s what you’ll need to make your very own bohemian teen wall hanging!

I used a twig that fell from one of my small trees during a recent storm for this project. Look around your yard and see if you can find any dried fallen twigs or small branches to use. If not, you can always use a thin dowel rod, but I always prefer using things form nature when I can. Then you’re going to collect all of your yarns and fibers that you want to use. I have lots of yarn in my house because one of my daughters is into loom weaving, but use what you have!
Go ahead and cut all your yarns into different lengths. You want them to be doubled, so you the center of the string forms a loop at the top. I wanted my hanging to have a point in the middle, so the shorter fibers are on the outer edges and the longest ones are in the center. Bundle your yarn in bunch of 4-10 strands so it looks thick. Ribbons can be done individually.
Get everything laid out in the pattern you want before you start tying, and start tying the yarns in the middle of the twig and working outwards. To attach your ribbon to the twig, take the loop and set it underneath the center of the twig, pointing downwards. Then take the ends of the ribbon and loop them over the front of the twig and through the ribbon loop.
Center the ribbon in the twig, and then pull it tight. Start working your way outwards, adding your different ribbons and yarns. Attach yarns in the same way, but with a bundle of them all together.
Keep working until all your fibers are tied onto your twig. To be able to hang it, take a long piece of yarn and tie it to each end of the twig. If you have a lot of excess twig, go ahead and move the knots of the yarn inward and break off the ends of the twig carefully.

And you’re all done! I actually hung this above the dresser in my bedroom because I just love the way it looks! I hope you all try to make your own Bohemian Teen Wall Hanging and enjoy it as much as I do!
