Black Cat Paper Plate Craft

When my boys were younger their favorite book was Slinky Malinki. I was happy to oblige their requests to read it often. But, I also liked to make their reading time a little more interactive, so we would create fun crafts to go along with the story. When we read Slinky Malinki the boys would wear the cutest little paper plate black cat mask. And I thought it would be fun to share this simple little black cat paper plate craft. It’s perfect for wearing while you read or for Halloween fun too!

Black Cat Craft Supplies:

• Black and pink construction paper.
• Paper plate.
• School glue.
• Scissors.
• Black paint and paint brush.

This fun craft is perfect all year long, but I always enjoyed making it during the fall with my kids. When the kids were younger, I would cut out the pieces before I brought the kids in to read the book, and they would work on the craft while we read the story. We read it so often, they could recite it with me.

Let’s get started making this darling little black cat paper plate craft!

Begin by cutting the middle out of the paper plate. Then, paint the remaining rim of the plate black.

While the paint dries, cut out small triangles and long thin strips from the black sheet of paper. Then, cut out slightly smaller pink triangles.

Now, glue the pink triangles onto the black triangles. Then, fold the black strips in half and make a little “V” shape. This will be the cat’s whiskers.

After the paint has fully dried, flip the plate over and then glue the ears on the back at the top. Then, add a small dot of glue to the point of the whiskers and secure them on the sides of the mask.
