Back to school season is here, and no matter how that looks for your family this year, it’s important to keep some normalcy right now. We are working on setting up learning stations for our boys at home. But, my mom and sister are teachers and are preparing their classrooms for face to face learning. And, they asked me to help them create some art projects that could be done in the class or at home for their little learners this year. This back to school bus art project is an adorable and easy art project to make in school and at home, and you only need a few supplies! Let’s get started.

Back to School Bus Art Project
Supplies:
- Yellow and black colored paper.
- Several colors of paint.
- School Glue.
- Scissors
- Markers
Start this project by cutting out a bus shape with the yellow paper. You can cut it free hand or use our printable school bus template. Your little artist might think it is easier to have a bus shape sketched on the paper.
Then, use a paint bottle or other small round object to trace for the bus wheels. Next, cut out two wheels. Then, add a little bit of glue to secure the black wheels to the yellow bus.

While the paint glue, you or your artist can write the school year and county on the side of the bus with a marker.
Now it’s time for the fun! Add a little paint to a paint palette or paper plate. I used white because that’s what I had on hand. But you can mix colors to make a more diverse group of kids for the bus. Then, after the paint is on the palette, have your little one dip their thumb into the paint. Now, they can make a paint thumbprint on the bus.
Then, after the thumbprint paint has dried, use markers to add hair and faces to the thumbprints.
