I’m super thrilled with our new printable story starters series! Like our printable mad libs and printable kids poems, there will be a set for every major holiday and season! That means at any time of the year you can come here to get fun holiday worksheets for writing and reading practice. The collection has continued to grow, and you’ll be pretty pleased with the huge selection available on the site.
These printable Valentine story starters can actually be used to make your own Valentine cards or even a great Valentine gift. I like to glue them to construction paper to “frame” them and then send them off to grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. It’s not only thoughtful, but it also provides a connection with your kids, from enjoying their creative stories to ooh-ing and ahh-ing over their adorable handwriting.
As with our other story starters, you can also use them with younger kids by reading the prompt aloud and then transcribing the stories they come up with. Just because they don’t know how to write just yet doesn’t mean they don’t have some incredible story ideas tucked away in those little brains of theirs.

I kind of have to laugh, as that center Valentine story starter could lead kids to having some pretty silly ideas about what the term “puppy love” really means. It also seems pretty fitting that the alien on the last one is covered with red spots. I mean, he is supposed to be from Jupiter, after all! And, do you think the President’s spouse is OK with him or her sending Valentines out to random citizens? Seems like that could cause a little trouble in the White House.
